Romanian Border Police detain Serbian citizen accused of genocide

A Serbian citizen wanted by the Interpol was detained by Romanian border police officers late-last week at the Galati-Port border crossing point. The 50-year-old man is accused of genocide.

On May 5, around 04:00, the man, named Stevan B. by the Police, wanted to cross the border as a crew member of a Serbian-flagged vessel. During the border check, the police officers saw that there is an Interpol alert issued on the man’s name, as he is being investigated for genocide committed from September to December 1991.

He was handed over to an operational team within the Criminal Investigation Service of the Galati County Police Inspectorate, which is to take further measures.
