Record number of employees in Romania, first time after two decades
For the first time in two decades, the number of employees in Romania reached 4.9 million, and will most certainly exceed 5 million in 2018, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS), local Ziarul Financiar reported.
Last time Romania had 4.9 million employees was in 1998, while the lowest number was of 4 million in 2011.
The 4.9 million employees recorded in February 2018 follow a massive migration flow, with over 3 million Romanians having left the country to work abroad. New hires in IT&C, manufacturing, trade, hotels & restaurants, and health and social care have triggered the increase.
