Romania wins six medals at Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad in Macedonia

Romania won six medals at the 18th edition of Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad (JBMO) organized in Ohrid, Macedonia. With five gold medals and a silver, Romania came first in the ranking by nations, followed in order by Turkey, Serbia and Bulgaria, according to a statement of the Romanian Ministry of Education.

The gold medals were won by Antonie Ciocan, Ciprian Mircea-Bonciocat, Alexandru Pascadi, Tudor Plopeanu and Alexandru Mihalcu. The silver medal went to Romanian student Mihnea Doica.

This year’s edition of JBMO attracted 66 participants from 11 countries in the Balkan region. Also, seven other teams from countries outside the Balkan region were present as guests.
