About 12% of the Romanians under 18 are addicted to the Internet and a third of the parents in Romania are worried about the amount of time their children spend online, according to a study by Kaspersky Lab, cited by local Mediafax.

About 36% of the parents are worried that their children may see inappropriate or explicit content online, and 32% fear they may communicate with unknown people.

Thus, about a third of the parents have imposed restrictions on the time their children spend online. However, this measure does not necessarily protect children from online dangers, according to Kaspersky Lab. About 12% of the children have accessed inappropriate content online and 10% came into contact with malware and viruses, according to the same study.
