Romanians pay over EUR 3 million to see the “King of Waltz” live in Bucharest next year
Famous Dutch violinist Andre Rieu sold out three concerts in Romania in less than 24 hours, probably setting a new record for best-selling show in Romania. Some 36,000 Romanians paid more than EUR 3 million to see “The King of Waltz” and his Johann Strauss Orchestra perform live in Bucharest, Romania-Insider.com has estimated.
Andre Rieu will have not one, but three concerts next year in Romania, in Bucharest’s Piata Constitutiei. The concerts will take place on June 12, 13 and 14.
About 12,000 tickets were sold for each concert. The value of the tickets sold for just one concert is about EUR 1 million, Romania-Insider.com has calculated based on the official ticket prices and the number of tickets sold for each category. This means the three concerts would bring total revenues of EUR 3 million to the organisers.
The ticketing site eventim.ro, which sold the tickets, also made more than EUR 200,000, from all three concerts. Eventim.ro charged 8% of the tickets’ official prices, according to Romania-Insider.com calculations.
Official ticket prices announced by the organisers started from RON 160 (EUR 36) and went up to RON 800 (EUR 180). However, ticket prices on eventim.ro started at RON 172.8 (EUR 39), while the VIP tickets which were the most expensive, sold for RON 864 (EUR 195).
“The prices announced by Andre Rieu, which were also made public in press releases, are the event’s base prices, which do not include the fees of the distribution network,” according to the organiser’s representatives in Romania.
Eventim.ro did not show the structure of the prices or the fees charged. The site also charged customers for the delivery of the tickets (RON 15 for courier delivery and RON 2 if clients went to take the tickets from the company’s selling points).
