Thirty Romanians working at UK farm test positive for coronavirus
Thirty of the almost 100 Romanians working at a Herefordshire farm, in the UK, tested positive for the Covid-19 infection, the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) announced.
Two of the workers complained about deficiencies related to the accommodation conditions, but the representatives of Romania’s Embassy in London were unable to contact them yet, MAE said.
According to information provided by their employer, the local authorities provided food and other needed items to the workers, who have been quarantined.
At the same time, the company said that workers can decide to continue working at the farm or leave it after the quarantine ends.
Outside of the country, 5,202 Romanian citizens tested positive for the Covid-19 infection, according to the July 17 report released by the local authorities. Most of them are in Germany (2,330), Italy (1,885), and Spain (561). In the UK, 127 Romanian citizens tested positive for the infection.
Since the start of the pandemic, 122 of the Romanians abroad who tested positive for the coronavirus died, while 158 have recovered.
