8,000 Romanians acquire government bonds in five days
Almost 8,000 Romanians have acquired government bonds in the first five days after the issuance was launched, six times more compared to last year.
Individuals have subscribed over EUR 62.6 million worth of bonds, three times more than the total value of this offer. Romania’s Government planned to draw EUR 22.3 million but is willing to increase the amount to meet the demand.
The offer started on July 11 and should end on July 29. The bonds for the population have a nominal value of RON 100 (EUR 22.2) and pay a yearly interest rate of 2.15%. The titles are due in 2018. One person can buy maximum 1,000 titles, with a value of EUR 22,200.
Romania’s Government resumed its bond issues for the population last year, after a decade hiatus.
