A cultural stroll at Romania's international book fair Bookfest

29 May 2014

The Romania-Insider.com team has paid a visit to the largest book fair in Bucharest, Bookfest, currently ongoing in the Romanian capital. The fair has been awaiting visitors since Wednesday, May 28, and the first day was perfect for a relaxed stroll and for finding bargain books, and the newest titles.

Due to end on Sunday, June 1, the fair is less busy during week days, and is expected to get more crowded on Friday, as well as during the week-end. A good opportunity to book your late afternoons for...books.

Bookfest takes place at Romexpo, at the Presei Libere Square (Piata Presei Libere in Romanian, and Free Press Square in English). The entrance is located between the two office towers that watch over the square. Entry is free of charge.

The ongoing Bookfest includes lots of book launches, events and meetings with authors. This year, the guest of honor is Poland, with Polish authors highlighted in a special section.

Books in foreign languages are also on sale (English, German, French, even Turkish and Magyar, among others), but the majority of the books are in Romanian. Support books for those who want to learn foreign languages, including Romanian, can also be found at the fair.
