A Hawk and a Hacksaw, Shukar Collective, in the Balkan Twist event lineup

The American band “A Hawk and a Hacksaw”, “Shukar Collective”, Dj Vasile and Romanian painter Paul Hitter will attend the Balkan Twist event that will take place at Godot Cafe Theatre (14 Blanari St) in Bucharest on April 8 and 9, starting 21:00 hours. The event is organized by OneDay and Godot Cafe Theatre.

The American band’s A Hawk and a Hacksaw concert takes place for the launch of their new album, “Cervantine”. A Hawk and a Hacksaw is a band from Albuquerqe, New Mexico and consists of accordionist Jeremy Byrnes and violinist Haether Trost. The music is inspired by Eastern European, Turkish and Balkan traditions, and is mostly instrumental. More about the band on their website.

Shukar Collective is a well known Romanian group that combines traditional Romanes music with modern techniques of digital sampling. Their concerts are accompanied by visual projections that make each event unique. More about the band on their website.

Paul Hitter is a Romanian painter living in Munich whose paintings are surprisingly alive and deeply rooted in the symbolism of Romanian and Balkan folklore. His painting style falls into a stream which he initiated and established, called “Balkan expressionism”. Paul Hitter's website.

DJ Vasile is one of the veteran artists, one of the founders of the electronic music wave in Romania. He also became involved in the Shukar Collective project. More about him.

Tickets for Balkan Twist event can be purchased in the evening of the event from Club Godot, for RON 30 per day for category B (spaces located in front of the stage) and RON 50 per day for category A (the balcony seats).
