A third of industry companies in Romania slow down production
Romania’s industrial sector decreased in January when over 35% companies reported a drop in production.
Only 24% of the companies recorded growth compared to the previous month, whereas 38% of them saw a decline in the number of new orders, according to a survey by IRSOP Market Research, cited by local Mediafax.
The production costs increased for 36% of the companies. Only 12% recorded a drop in these costs.
Despite this start, the 15,200 companies with more than 9 employees active in this sector estimate that the production and orders volume will increase in the following months. They also anticipate a drop in production costs, due to the decrease in energy or fuel prices.
The industrial sector includes activities such as processing raw materials, mining, energy, water or sanitation.
