Acquisition on the agriculture segment: CHS buys Agri Point, plans office in Romania
US group CHS Inc. has bought Agri Point, a company with operations in Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Serbia. Agri Point used to be controlled by East Point Holdings Limited in Nicosia, Cyprus. The value of the deal was not disclosed.
The Agri Point acquisition is part of the company's ongoing global grain origination expansion, adding approximately 1.5-to-2 million metric tons of corn, wheat and barley, CHS has said.
"Acquiring Agri Point enables CHS to further develop its global competency and presence into the high growth areas of Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary and Serbia," said Claudio Scarrozza, general manager, CHS Europe, Geneva, Switzerland. "In addition, we're adding important infrastructure to our global supply chain capabilities with a deep-water port in Constanta, Romania, a barge loading facility on the Danube River at Giurgiu, Romania, and an inland grain terminal at Oroshaza, Hungary."
CHS will have commercial offices in Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary and Serbia, managed by the CHS Europe office, Geneva.
CHS Inc. is an energy, grains and foods company committed to providing the essential resources that enrich lives around the world. A Fortune 100 company, CHS is owned by farmers, ranchers and cooperatives, along with thousands of preferred stockholders across the United States.
