Adidas opens high street store in Romanian capital's old town area

24 August 2011

Sports fashion retailer Adidas has recently opened a store in the Lipscani area of Bucharest – the Old Town – after having renovated a two-floor villa on Lipscani street. The store is one of the few fashion units in the area, which is mostly crowded with bars and restaurants, while Adidas is the first large fashion brand that has opened a store in the old part of the Romanian capital city.

Adidas, which runs directly its stores on the Romanian market, has other five shops in Bucharest, all in shopping centers, according to data on its website.

The newly opened store covers the ground floor and the first two floors of a historic building downtown Bucharest, in what has become one of the most crowded areas in Bucharest. The developments in the Old Town are far from being close to an end, as many of the buildings in the area still require extensive renovations, as the one adjoining the new Adidas store (see picture above). Experts however expect many more fashion brands to join Adidas in opening stores on Bucharest Old Town's streets.
