Adventure parks near Bucharest: where to go to test your limits

The number of adventure parks in Romania has been growing in recent years, as people are more and more interested in outdoor activities that test both their physical and mental abilities. Climbing trees and going on off-road trails are fun and healthy exercises and a good way to spend weekends.

We started a list of the adventure parks that can be found in Romania, and in this first part we present the adventure parks that can be found near Bucharest (on a 50 kilometer radius).

1. Extreme Park Cernica (website does not work, try Facebook page for details)
Location: Cernica Lake, in the eastern part of Bucharest
Adventure park facilities: 8 trails of various difficulties + zip line over the Cernica Lake
Other leisure facilities: restaurant, pool, fishing, paintball
Opening hours: 9:00 to 20:30
Prices: RON 30 (for 3 hours), for children up to 12 years old, RON 40 for the rest

2. Aventura Park Butimanu (aventuraparc.ro)
Location: Butimanu village, north of Bucharest
Adventure park facilities: tree escalade (4 trails), escalade wall, archery initiation
Other leisure facilities: mini golf, petanque, mini zoo, children playground, snack bar and terrace
Opening hours: Saturday and Sunday 10:00 to 17:00
Prices: RON 30 (entry ticket) for children, RON 53 for adults, RON 170 family ticket (2 adults + 2 children)

3. Edenland Balotesti (www.edenland.ro)
Location: Balotesti, north of Bucharest
Adventure park facilities: tree escalade (11 trails), Eden jump (from 15 m high), archery, airsoft
Other leisure facilities: bike rental, paintball, tree houses for rent.
Opening hours: Saturday and Sunday 10:00 to sunset
Prices: RON 30 (3 hours climbing trail) for children 4 to 10, RON 40 for children 10 to 18, RON 50 for adults. Other activities are charged separately.

4. Comana Adventure Park (parcaventuracomana.ro)
Location: Comana forest, south of Bucharest
Adventure park facilities: tree escalade (4 trails for children and 3 for adults), zip line over the Comana lake, escalade wall, archery
Other leisure facilities: rowboat, motorboat, kayak, paragliding, fishing, bike rental, tennis court, carriage rides, paintball (to be opened soon)
Opening hours: 9:00 to 19:00
Prices: RON 50 (for three hours trail including 3 zip line crossings). Other activities are charged separately.

A large adventure park was also supposed to open in the summer of 2013, the Codrii Vlasiei Park, which was supposed to be twice larger than Herstrau park in Bucharest, but no news about it has been released in the last year.
