Afghan family caught trying to illegally enter Romania

Seven Afghan citizens tried to enter Romania illegally on Tuesday morning, March 8, but were caught by the Romanian Border Police.

According to a statement of the Border Police, the group of illegal immigrants was actually an Afghan family made of husband, wife, four minors aged between 2 and 15, and the husband’s brother. They were trying to illegally cross the border between the Republic of Moldova and Romania on their way to the Schengen area.

The incident took place at around 06:30 on March 8. Under the agreement concluded between Romania and Moldova, the Afghan citizens were handed over to the border authorities of the neighboring state.
