After Lemarco deal in Romania, Agrana pledges no takeover for 5 years
Sugar producer Agrana has pledged to transfer the import licenses of factories taken over from Lemarco group to other sugar processors and to not buy any other plant in the next five years, according to Romania's Competition Council.
Agrana Zucker announced in February that will take over from Lemarco SA, one of the largest sugar producers in Romania, the plants in Urziceni and Liesti. The company owns to other sugar factories in Romania, in Buzau and Roman.
To remove competitive concerns, Agrana pledged to transfer the import licenses of the two sugar factories Zaharul Liesti and Lemarco Cristal to processors of raw sugar until September 30, 2017, and not to acquire any other factory from local players for a period of five years.
In Romania, Agrana produces and sells sugar under the brands Margaritar Zahar and Coronita.
Agrana buys two sugar refinery plants in Romania.
