After one gig and one cancellation, Depeche Mode to return to Romania in 2013
British band Depeche Mode will hold their second concert in Romania in May 2013, seven years after their first in the country. The band announced the date officially in their press conference today (October 23 ) in Paris.
The gig in Bucharest will be held in the same stadium where it took place seven years ago, but since then the arena has been renovated, turning it into the National Arena. Ticket prices are yet to be announced, and will be on sale from October 29 on www.myticket.ro. The Bucharest concert is organized by Emagic.
Depeche Mode were supposed to perform in Romania in 2009 , but the show was canceled after lead singer Dave Gahan was hospitalized after suffering of gastroenteritis. Other concerts in the region were also canceled in May 2009.
Depeche Mode's Andy Fletcher previously came to Romania for a solo gig, in December 2010. The band formed in the 80s in Essex, England by Dave Gahan, Martin L. Gore, Andrew Fletcher and Vince Clarke.
Some of the band's best known songs are “Enjoy the silence' and 'Personal Jesus', among others. The band's recent albums include 'Playing the angel' and 'Sounds of the Universe'. The band recently confirmed a new album will be launched in early 2013, with April 2013 set for the release, just before the concert in Romania.
The tour will start in May and Bucharest is the fourth gig in the tour, after Tel Aviv, Athens and Sofia. After the concert in Bucharest, the band will go to Istanbul.
