After VAT reduction for bread, PM wants this measure to be applied to other products
Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta asked Agriculture Minister Daniel Constantin to find the “next target” for Value Added Tax (VAT) reduction, considering that this measure applied to bakery products was correct in terms of fiscal budget, reports local Mediafax.
Romania applied a lower VAT for bread in September last year. The VAT is now 9%, down from the previous 24%.
Employers in the meat industry have repeatedly asked for VAT reduction on meat and meat products, from 24% to 5%, arguing that this measure would combat tax evasion in this sector.
