Airbus threatens to close factory and leave Romania
Airbus Helicopters considers closing its production activities in Romania in the absence of a consistent order from the government, French newspaper La Tribune reported.
Romanian defense minister Mihai Fifor is on a visit to France, where he will meet French counterpart Florence Parly.
Airbus inaugurated an assembly line for the H215 transport helicopter in Ghimbav, near Brasov, in 2016. Former French president Francois Hollande attended the event.
The company was expecting a consistent order from the Romanian Army for these helicopters to start production, but this hasn’t come yet. If the Romanian authorities do not buy helicopters, then Airbus will close its operations and transfer the assembly line to another country, according to company officials.
