Alexandra Copos takes over reigns of family's hospitality business
Alexandra Copos, the daughter of Romanian businessman George Copos, recently took over the helm of the company which owns the five-star Athenee Palace Hilton hotel in Bucharest.
She thus replaces her father on the president – general manager seat, after George Copos was sentenced to jail in a tax evasion case involving transfer of football players.
George Copos used to be the owner of football club Rapid, which he sold in 2013. Copos was arrested on Tuesday evening (March 4) and taken to the Rahova prison near Bucharest. More about the recent jail sentence for former football bosses, here.
Alexandra Copos was previously vice-president of the board of the firm, which is listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange. She has also been the CEO and chairwoman of the board of the firm Ana Pan since August 2013, while also being the vice-president of the board with Ana Hotels.
Alexandra Copos graduated the Princeton University with an MA in Economics, Politics and Finance in 2007, and holds a Master in Public Administration from the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government, as well as an MBA in Entrepreneurship from the Wharton Business School, which she graduated in 2013. Prior to joining the family business in the summer of 2013, she was a business analyst with McKinsey for two years, and interned at two hospitality companies Starwood Hotels & Resorts, and Hersha Hospitality. The Ana Hotels group also includes the five-star Crowne Plaza in Bucharest, as well as hotels in seaside and mountain resorts in Romania.
