Alpha Bank turns to EUR 5.7 mln loss in Romania in first quarter

Greek lender Alpha Bank posted a loss of EUR 5.7 million in the first three months of the year, while its profit before tax stood at EUR 8.1 million during the same period of last year. The bank's provisions grew by 6.6 percent during the first quarter of 2011, compared to the first three months of 2010, reaching EUR 26.1 million. Its operational revenues went down by 22 percent compared to Q1 2010, to EUR 43.6 million, while its operational expenses went up by 0.3 percent, to EUR 23.3 million.

The Alpha Bank Group made a net profit of EUR 10.5 million, compared to a loss of EUR 10.4 million in the first quarter of last year. The Greek group runs Alpha Bank Romania, Alpha Finance Romania, Alpha Leasing Romania, Alpha Advisory Romania and Alpha Insurance Brokers.
