American metal band Korn to unleash their fury in Bucharest this year
American nu metal band Korn will hold their first concert in Romania’s capital Bucharest this year. The show will take place on August 3, at the Arenele Romane concert venue, the event’s organiser Emagic announced on Tuesday, February 10.
Korn, which was launched in 1993, became known in 1998 with its third album called Follow the Leader. The album sold over 10 million copies worldwide and brought them five platinum disks.
Korn have launched 11 albums over the last 21 years that sold over 35 million copies.
They are the first band labelled as nu metal. Nu metal is a subgenre of alternative metal that fuses elements of heavy metal music with those of multiple other genres, like hip hop, funk, and grunge.
Korn said their primary influences include Metallica, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Alice in Chains, Sepultura, Faith No More, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden, Duran Duran, Fear Factory, Cathedral, Living Color, Helmet, Rage Against the Machine, Slayer, Pink Floyd, Primus, Tool, Ministry, Mr. Bungle, Biohazard, Nine Inch Nails, Pantera, Beastie Boys, Black Sabbath, N.W.A., Anthrax, and Jane's Addiction. Hip hop music has also inspired much of their work.
The band’s lead vocalist is Jonathan Davis, who also plays the bagpipes. The other members are James "Munky" Shaffer – guitars, backing vocals, Brian "Head" Welch – guitars, backing vocals, Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu – bass, and Ray Luzier – drums, percussion.
Tickets for the Korn concert in Bucharest are available on myticket.ro, starting February 10, for a pre-sale special price of RON 140 (EUR 32). This offer is limited. Afterwards, tickets will sell for RON 160 (EUR 36). The organisers will also sell early admission tickets, which will allow earlier access to the concert venue. These will sell for RON 200 (EUR 45).
