Hollywood star Michael Douglas mentioned the Romanian workers in London in an interview he gave to CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, in which he also talked about the U.S. elections.

Immigration has been a major theme in the U.S. presidential campaign as well as in the campaign for the U.K. referendum to leave the European Union. Douglas, the grandson of Jewish immigrants from Belarus, dissaproves with the hate speech against immigrants that has been gaining more ground in the U.S. and Europe in recent years.

“We are a country of immigrants. So, I think that blaming the economic ills in our country on immigration is not fair,” said Michael Douglas.

“I walked around London early yesterday morning and there’s a lot of construction going on and all I heard (around these sites) was Romanian language. There are a lot of immigrants who are doing work that maybe people in that country choose not to do,” Douglas added.
