Anti-corruption prosecutors detain two Romanian MPs
The anti-corruption prosecutors detained yesterday the Romanian deputy Nicolae Paun.
He is charged with embezzlement and money laundering in two projects with EU funds implemented by the Roma Party association. The prosecutors will ask for preventive arrest for Paun.
The Chamber of Deputies approved DNA’s request to arrest Paun last week.
The DNA prosecutors also detained senator Doina Tudor yesterday. She is charged with taking bribe from local businessman Ilie Carabulea, the owner of the insurer Carpatica Asig, which she passed to her former husband, the former vice president of the Financial Supervisory Authority Daniel Tudor.
DNA also held Daniel Tudor last week.
