Arrears on loans of over EUR 4,400 go up in Romania in May
Arrears on loans exceeding RON 20,000 (EUR 4,400) granted by local banks increased by 0.9% in May this year over April, reaching EUR 6.6 billion.
The data, centralized by the Central Credit Register (CCR), shows that these arrears represented almost 11% of the total amounts owed by customers to banks. Some 90% of the total arrears, namely almost EUR 6 billion, represented loans unpaid by over a year.
The number of people with arrears to banks rose to 190,715 in May, from about 188,000 in April. However, it remained below the level recorded one year ago, when the number totaled 208,305.
In the case of individuals, the arrears on loans of over EUR 4,440 dropped in May reaching EUR 1.3 billion.
