Artmark auctions EUR 1 million worth of paintings in its winter auction
Artmark auction house will organize an auction with EUR 1 million worth of paintings on December 16 in Bucharest and in Sibiu. The paintings by Romanian artists will be simultaneously auctioned from Bucharest and Sibiu through a duplex electronic system. The auction is organized in partnership with Brukental Museum in Sibiu. The Bucharest auction will take place at the J.W Marriott hotel, while the one in Sibiu, at the Hilton Hotel Sibiu, both starting 19,30 hours.
100 works of art will be auctioned at the event, painted by Romanian artists like Grigorescu, Pallady, Tonitza, Petrascu, Bancilă, Iser, Ghiata, Mützner, Steriadi, Ciucurencu, Bernea and Pacea. Get the paintings catalog here.
Nicolae Grigorescu's painting 'Pastorita' (Shepherdess) is estimated ot worth up to EUR 80,000, while Ion Tuculescu's painting 'Noapte la Stefanesti' (Night in Stefanesti) is estimated to be worth around EUR 100,000, being among the most expensive in the auction batch. The paintings will be exhibited at the Marriott hotel in Bucharest between December 9 and 11, and will move to the Brukental Museum in Sibiu between December 12 and 14.
Artmark doubled its turnover from auctions in the first half of the year, reaching EUR 1.9 million, up on EUR 1.7 million in the first half of 2009. The local auctions market was estimated at EUR 3 million in the first half of this year, almost double on last year's first half, when EUR 3.69 million of art works were auctioned during the entire year.
