Artmark’s 2014 kick off auction reaches over EUR 0.2 mln sales
Artmark auction house recorded total sales of over EUR 200,000 at this year’s first Postmodernism & Contemporary auction organized on January 28.
The auction brought new records for several artists, such as Georgeta Naparus, whose piece Prapor sold for EUR 12,000, up from the previous record of EUR 8,000 registered in 2013.
Constantin Flondor’s Inmugurire also sold for a record price of EUR 4,750, up from the artist’s previous record of EUR 2,000.
The Postmodernism & Contemporary auction also included important premiers of artists well traded on the international market, such as Daniel Spoerri whose piece Tableau Piege went for EUR 2,000, three times over the estimated maximum.
Artmark also organized the Rare Watches auction on January 28, which recorded total sales of some EUR 50,000.
The best sold pieces were a Patek Philippe hand watch, sold for EUR 6,000, and a collection piece - a Patek Geneve pocket watch awarded for EUR 5,000.
Artmark’s following auctions will be organized on February 18 - the Martisor Auction I, and on February 20 - the Romanian Art and Martisor II auctions.
The art auction market in Romania amounted to some EUR 15.1 million in 2013, when the diversification in the market triggered an increase in the number of transactions, but also in the number of art items sold.
In 2012, the art auction market had a total value of EUR 14.6 million, while in 2011 it amounted to some 13.7 million.
