Association of American pharma companies in Romania appoints new management board

Gabor Sztaniszlav, the Amgen country manager for Romania, is the new president of the Association Local American Working Group (LAWG), as of May this year. The association’s current leadership also includes Radu Rasinar - the AstraZeneca country manager, as vice-president, and Fabrizio Giombini - the Merck Sharp & Dohme country manager, as general secretary.

The new management board was appointed for a period of two years.

The new president, Gabor Sztaniszlav, graduated from the Semmelweis University, has a Pharm.D. in Pharmacology and holds an MBA degree from the University of Durham. Throughout his 15-year career, he has held positions of marketing and sales manager.

Previously, the leadership of LAWG has been held by the representatives of Pfizer, Merck Sharp & Dohme.

LAWG was founded in 2010 by the leading American pharmaceutical research and biotechnology companies existing in Romania

LAWG is the affiliate of Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), the organization that plays a significant role in promoting medical innovation.

PhRMA members invested an estimated USD 49.4 billion in 2010 in discovering and developing new medicines. The amount invested in Romania by PhRMA member companies reaches an estimated EUR 100 million, used to power research and biopharmaceutical activities.
