Auchan Romania offered EUR 19 million to Romanian company Rolast for the retail space in Pitesti which hosts the Auchan Gavana hypermarket - former Real, and  as well as the retail galleria.

The transaction also targets part of the parking spaces and the access routes. The whole land plot covers 77,800 sqm.

“The parties should conclude the contractual documentation until June 1, 2014,” according to Rolast.

The transaction under which Auchan took over the 20 Real stores in Romania from Metro Group was completed in September 2013, following the agreement signed in late-2012. Auchan Romania now operates 31 stores in 18 cities across the country and employs some 11,000 people.

The company’s sales more than doubled last year to EUR 1.04 billion. The company reported a loss of EUR 15 million, it announced.
