Romania's Audit Court: Local authorities, more dependent on state budget
The local authorities are becoming increasingly dependent on the state budget, according to a report of Romania’s Audit Court.
Last year, less than half of the cities’ and counties’ revenues came from their own resources, or 44.9%. In 2012, the share of own revenues in the total budget of local governments reached 49.2% whereas in 2013 it totaled 48.7%. It is
“insufficient to talk about a real autonomy of the local authorities,” reads the Audit Court report, cited by local Economica.net.
The most important own revenues came from the tax on buildings, followed by the tax on land and the tax on vehicles.
