Austrian wine producer doubles turnover in Romania
Romanian wine producer amb Wine Company (Liliac winery), owned by Austrian businessman Alfred Michael Beck, ended the first half of the year with a turnover of RON 1.4 million (some EUR 315,000), almost double compared to the sales registered in the same period of last year. The result exceeded the company’s estimations, as it is a relatively new wine producer.
The wine producer targets a turnover of RON 4 million (some EUR 900,000) for 2015, up from RON 1.4 million (EUR 400,000) in 2014.
amb Wine also sold 100,000 bottles in the first eight months of this year, double compared to the volume sold in the same period in 2014. Some 20% of the wine bottles are distributed in supermarkets while the rest goes to the HoReCa sector.
The company exports 10% of the total production to countries such as Austria, Denmark, Switzerland, Germany, UK, Luxembourg, the Czech Republic, and Poland, and wants to increase the figure to 15% by end-2015. Next year, it plans to start exporting to the US.
amb Wine was established in 2010. In 5 years, the company completed the development of its Liliac winery in Batos commune, Mures county, which required an overall investment of some EUR 7 million, including operational costs.
The company owns 52 hectares of vines in Batos, Mures county, and Vermes-Lechinta, Bistrita-Nasaud county, and has a production capacity of 260,000 liters. It amb Wine produces and sells Liliac, Young Liliac and Crespuscul premium wine brands.
The company recently launched a new collection named Private Selection, to celebrate its five years of existence. It comprises Orange Chardonnay Private Selection 2014 (the first orange wine in Romania), Pinot Noir Private Selection 2013, Merlot Private Selection 2013, Liliac Red Cuvée 2014, and Titan Feteasca Neagra 2013.
