Authorities seize Romanian hacker who broke into official Romanian Presidency website
A Romanian hacker believed to have broken into the servers hosting the Romanian Presidency website presidency.ro has been caught by the prosecutors from the Cluj county.
The man, identified as BST, allegedly also cloned 62,000 bank cards between 2010 and 2014, and sent some 3,400 of these cards to third parties. He received the pay for handing over the card data via Western Union or Money Gram to an accomplice of his, a women identified as UA, according to prosecutors, or were converted into bitcoins, and then into dollars or euros.
Prosecutors believe that BST also hacked into the presidency.ro official website, in order to get classified data. The hacker had EUR 153,000 and USD 41,000 at home, which were seized after the Police searches.
