Balkan sounds on Bucharest stage this week

Romanian band Taraf De Haidouks will play at Silver Church club on May 16, bringing the sounds that have captured audiences all over the world back home to Bucharest. The band are known for having collaborated with Yehudi Menuhin, Kronos Quartet, Johnny Depp and Yohji Yamamoto.

Vrelo will also be on, which features six female voices, drums and bass. The Serbian band’s music was on the soundtrack of the movie “Life is a miracle“ and they collaborated with the famous Emir Kusturica.

The Lemon Bucket Orkestra, the third act of the evening, are based in Toronto, Canada, and their music mixes gipsy punk and gipsy jazz with Balkan influences. The group includes 14 artists from a variety of countries.

Tickets for the May 16 concert cost RON 25 and can be bought on the door.
