Banca Italo Romena appoints new GM for Romania

Italian lender Banca Italo Romena appointed Paolo Mariani as its new general manager, replacing Giulio Simonelli, whose mandate ended in March this year. Before arriving in Romania, Mariani led Italian bank Carifac, part of the group Veneto Banca, parent company of Banca Italo Romena.

Mariani, 51, has over 20 years of experience in the banking sector in Italy. He graduated the Law Faculty in Macerata, Italy.

Italo Romena bank ended 2010 with a net profit of EUR 10.1 million, down 18 percent compared with 2009, according to the bank. The volume of deposits exceeded EUR 525 million, representing an increase of EUR 207.8 million compared to the previous year. The bank has 22 branches in Romania.
