The RON and foreign currency deposits of the population and companies in Romania had an advance of 0.5 percent from the previous month in August this year in Romania, up to EUR 41.8 billion (RON 178.06 billion), according to the Romanian Central Bank (BNR). The annual advance of the bank deposits' value was 5.1 percent in August.

Household deposits in foreign currency decreased by 0.7 percent from July, while for companies they increased by 0.9 percent. In RON, the household deposits decreased by 0.1 percent in August compared to the previous month, while the companies' deposits had a month-on-month increase of 2.1 percent.

Compared with the same month last year, total deposits in RON increased by 10.8 percent. Household deposits in foreign currency expressed in euro had a year-on-year increase of 1.8 percent, while foreign currency deposits of companies decreased by 12.4 percent, according to BNR.
