The value of deposits in Romania grew by 3.2 percent in the second quarter of this year, on the previous quarter reaching EUR 69.8 billion, according to the Guaranteeing Fund for Deposits in the Banking System in Romania. Individuals' and companies' deposits grew at a similar pace year-on-year.

Deposits at foreign banks' subsidiaries in Romania stagnated in the second quarter of the year, as individuals' deposits grew, while companies' deposits went down.

Companies' deposits have the biggest weight in the total deposits in the banking system in Romania, covering 63 percent of them. Deposits in Romanian currency grew more rapidly than those in foreign currencies. The growth of RON deposits was four fold the growth of foreign currency deposits.
