Bank deposits, up by almost 9% in Romania
Individuals and companies had bank deposits of RON 253.5 billion (EUR 56 billion) in Romania at the end of 2015, up by 8.6% (when expressed in RON) compared to end-2014.
The growth was supported by the 14% advance in the companies’ savings in Romanian currency lei, which reached almost RON 80 billion (EUR 17.6 billion) at the end of December.
The population’s deposits in local currency increased by 6.4% last year, to RON 91.7 billion (EUR 20.3 bln).
The deposits in foreign currency made by individuals and companies increased by 6.3% to over RON 82 billion (EUR 18.1 bln).
