Biathlon brings Romania's third medal in European Youth Winter Olympics
Romanian Dorottya Buzaş won the country's third medal at the ongoing European Youth Winter Olympics in Brasov. Buzas, who trains at the Miercurea Ciuc sports club, won the silver at the biathlon sprint, after having ended the 10 kilometers individual in 12th position.
Mitoraj Kinga from Poland won the gold at the biathlon race on Gradistei Valley. Ukrainian Merkushyna Anastasya for the bronze, while Romania's other competitors in the race, Racz Renata, Focze Bernadette and Vălean Andreea came 23rd, 51st and 52nd, respectively.
Buzas' victory adds to Romania's silver and gold medals, both won by short track speed skater Emil Imre. He won the 1,000m speed skating race to give Romania its first gold of the games after taking the silver in the 500m event.
The European Youth Winter Olympics are on all week in the Brasov area, finishing on Friday, February 22. Various venues are in use, including a purpose built ski jumping facility in Rasnov, the Poiana Brasov ski resort and the the arena in Brasov city.
