Biggest emergency unit in Romania opens in Bucharest with over EUR 3.50 mln
The biggest emergency unit in the country was inaugurated on Tuesday in Bucharest's Emergency University Hospital. The unit also has a Mobile Service for Emergency Resuscitation and Extrication (SMURD). The hospital plans to open a heliport soon.
The investment for the new emergency unit at the University Hospital started in 2010, the cost amounting to over EUR 3.50 million, all funds coming from the Romanian Ministry of Health. The Emergency University Hospital became the second SMURD health facility in Bucharest.
The Bucharest-Ilfov Ambulance Service transports more than 60 percent of the emergency cases to the hospital, while the rest will be transported by SMURD.
