Biggest media group in Romania sees higher operational profit in 2015
PRO TV group, the local subsidiary of Central European Media Enterprises (CME), recorded an operational profit before depreciation and amortization (OIBDA) of USD 41.2 million in 2015, 10.5% higher compared to 2014. Excluding the negative effect of the Romanian currency – RON’s depreciation against the US dollar, the group’s operational profit went up by 32%, according to CME’s financial report.
PRO TV’s turnover was USD 157.6 million, down by 11.8% in USD, but up by 5.4% in local currency.
PRO TV is the largest media group in Romania. It owns the largest TV station in Romania – PRO TV, as well as several other TV channels (Acasa TV, Sport.ro, PRO Cinema, and MTV Romania). The group also owns some of the biggest media websites in Romania.
Lithuanian Alekxandras Cesnavicius has been managing the PRO TV group since late 2013.
CME is one of the largest media groups in Eastern Europe. American group Time Warner controls 49.9% of the group.
CME had net revenues of USD 606 million in 2015, down by 11% compared to 2014 in USD, by up by 5.9% excluding exchange rate effects. The group’s operational profit was USD 123 million, up by 29% in USD, and 53% higher in constant rates.
