Romanian online retailer eMag.ro has sold EUR 8 million of products last Friday – the first Black Friday-like sale in Romania. Around 1.1 million people visited its site and ordered 90,000 products. Emag initially had created a stock of 30,000 products for this sales, but the initial stock was sold out early in the morning.

“It is probably the most interesting shopping phenomenon ever in Romania. The online viral about the discounts was unimaginable and without precedent. Our information from the market indicate traffic and sales a couple of times higher for all online stores, even if they had not joined the Black Friday promotions,” according to Radu Apostolescu of eMag.
