eMAG, the biggest online retailer in Romania, kicked off its Black Friday sales campaign at 8:22 AM and in less than two hours it sold 220,000 products worth some EUR 23.6 million. eMAG has a sales target of some EUR 46 million for the whole day.

Smartphones and smart TVs were the most ordered products, but eMAG also sold 15 cars, a tractor, and 2.5 kilos of gold, according to the company’s data presented by local website Wall-street.ro.

eMAG sold 14,000 mobile phones and 11,400 TV sets. The iPhone 6, which eMAG sold for RON 2,000 (EUR 450), was sold out in the first seconds after the campaign started, as was the iPad Air 2 tablet, which was on sale for RON 1,700 (EUR 382).

The online retailer also sold all its Xbox ONE gaming consoles in a few seconds, the price being RON 1,000 (EUR 225), 39% lower than the basic price. It also sold several cars, the most expensive of which was a EUR 48,400 Mercedes ordered by mobile. A tractor also sold for RON 100,000 (EUR 22,500), as it had a 46% discount.

eMAG had 2 million visits on its website in less than two hours and at one point reached 320,000 visitors at the same time, half of which came from mobile platforms.
