Brancusi items collection worth EUR 2 million to be auctioned on November 30 in Paris
A collection of art pieces made by Constantin Brancusi, which belonged to artists Nicoleta Dumitrescu and Alexandru Istrati, will be auctioned in Paris on November 30. The collection is estimated to be worth between EUR 1.5 million and EUR 2 million. The collection includes three sculptures, 20 furniture pieces and objects made by or transformed by Brancusi for his daily use, along with some of his personal items.
Brancusi left this collection to his friends Nicoleta Dumitrescu and Alexandru Istrati, who were also artists and who lived with him in Paris. The two's heir, Théodor Nicol, has decided to put the collection up for sale. Nicol will also donate ten pieces to the National Modern Art Museum Centre Pompidou in Paris, which will keep the pieces in the Brancusi replica atelier, which stands in front of the museum.
The main piece of the collection is the sculpture Kiss (Column), made of four parts in 1935, which is estimated to worth up to EUR 1.2 million. The collection will be auctioned by the Artcurial auction house at the Marcel Dassault hotel in Paris on November 30. Details about the collection on sale here.
