Brewer Heineken Romania ends 2013 on lower turnover, profit
Beer producer Heineken registered a net profit of RON 159.9 million (EUR 36 million) in Romania in 2013, down some 14 percent against the previous year. Its turnover also dropped 5 percent last year, to RON 1.12 billion (EUR 253 million), reports local Ziarul Financiar.
Onno Rombouts, managing director of Heineken Romania, recently said that bad weather, low consumer confidence and increasing excises led to a decrease in the beer market in 2013.
Heineken Romania ended 2012 with a turnover of EUR 266 million, an increase of 13.2 percent on the year before. The company has four breweries in Romania, in Miercurea Ciuc, Craiova, Constanta and Targu Mures.
