Flanco, Romania’s third largest appliances and IT retailer, reported around EUR 6 million sales on Black Friday, traditionally a day of high volume sales. The figure is an estimate based on the company’s recorded sales between 25 and 27 of November. “The sales level is the same as in a regular month like February or June, only it was made in three days,” said Adrian Olteanu, Flanco CEO.

The best selling products were TV sets (27 percent), notebooks (16 percent) and washing machines (10 percent). The company has sold over 4.500 TV sets, 2,500 notebooks and 3,000 washing machines. The best selling brands were Samsung, Whirlpool, Sony and Asus.

Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, traditionally the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. Most major U.S. retailers open well before dawn and offer promotional sales to kick off the shopping season. It was for the first time in Romania when local retailers organized Black Friday sales.
