British retailer to open store in Bucharest next year
British group Debenhams, which exited the Romanian market about a year ago, will open a store on the local market next spring. The unit will be located in Bucuresti Mall shopping center, developed by Anchor Group in Romania’s capital, reports local Mediafax.
The store is under construction and is located in the same place as the previous Debenhams store.
Debenhams first entered the Romanian market in 2007 as a franchise owned by Romanian businessman Octavian Radu. In 2013, Radu closed down the six Debenhams stores he operated. The last two units were in Plaza Romania and Bucuresti Mall shopping centers.
