Bucharest airport company posts three times higher than budgeted profit in 2013

The Bucharest Airport company, which runs the main Otopeni airport in the Romanian capital, as well as the currently closed down Baneasa airport, posted a gross profit of about EUR 17.3 million in 2013, three times more than budgeted.

Meanwhile, its turnover was of some EUR 136 million in 2013, up 10 percent on the year before.

Passenger traffic reached 7.6 million passengers in 2013, up a mere 1.3 percent on 2012. the majority – 84 percent – came from or went to EU countries.

The Henri Coanda – or Otopeni airport – hosts 34 airlines, which run flights to 71 destinations. Two new airlines, easyJet Air and Air Serbia, started operating flights on the airport in 2013, and in March 2014, Ryanair will also join the pack.
