Bucharest airports company sees 34% profit growth

The Bucharest National Airport Company (CNAB), which manages Bucharest’s two airports, recorded total revenues of RON 808.6 million (EUR 175.8 million) in the first nine months of this year, up 20.1% over the same period last year.

Its gross profit amounted to RON 320 million (EUR 69.6 million), up 34% year-on-year.

The revenues mainly grew because of the increase in the number of passengers, according to CNAB representatives. Some 5.92 million passengers transited the two airports in the first six months of this year, up 20.5% compared to the same period of 2016.

The Bucharest National Airport Company was set up in February 2010, following the merger of the two state companies managing the Bucharest airports, namely Otopeni and Baneasa airports. Romania’s Transport Ministry holds the majority stake in the Bucharest National Airport Company while Fondul Proprietatea is a minority shareholder.

The airports company recorded a turnover of EUR 191 million and a profit of EUR 52 million last year.
