Bucharest bourse GM: Privatization process could resume this year

28 March 2016

The privatization program carried out by Romania could resume this year after a hiatus in 2015, with at least one imminent listing, said Ludwik Sobolewski, Bucharest Stock Exchange general manager.

The salt producer Salrom could most probably list its shares this year. The listing of the largest power producer Hidroelectrica could take place only in 2017.

“It is important for Romania to continue this process, because we need large companies on the market,” Sobolewski said, cited by local Agerpres.

The Government listed companies such as Romgaz, Electrica, and Nuclearelectrica in the previous years. In 2015, the airports in Bucharest and Constanta were deemed right for privatization, but the actual process has been stagnating.
