Bucharest City Hall spends EUR 0.4 mln on boats for public lakes
The Bucharest City Hall will buy boats, kayaks, and pedal boats worth almost EUR 400,000 for recreational activities on the Floreasca and Tei lakes.
The supplier is a company that also distributes croissants and apples in schools and is headquartered in Voluntari, Ilfov county, reports local Hotnews.ro.
The company, ASTRA BUCURESTI & CO PROD, was the only bidder. A 75% stake in the company is owned by a Romanian woman called Adrian Pandele. The local media immediately reacted to the news, because the new Bucharest mayor Gabriela Firea’s husband is called Florin Pandele and he is the mayor of Voluntari. Local publications suspected a relationship between the company’s owner and Florin Pandele.
The Bucharest mayor, however, said that there was no connection between the company and her family, and that the public tender had been initiated by the former mayor.
