10,000 mixed breed dogs and cats to be neutered for free in Bucharest

27 February 2019

Bucharest’s General Council (CGMB) voted on Tuesday, February 26, a project that targets the free neutering of a maximum of 10,000 mixed breed dogs and cats that have owners.

The costs are to be covered by the Animal Welfare and Surveillance Authority (ASPA), which will organize the procurement procedure for these services, local Mediafax reported. According to the project, the value of a neutering intervention can reach RON 235 for dogs and RON 150 for cats.

The project is aimed at reducing animal abandonment, as some owners decide to just abandon their dogs or cats (or their puppies or kittens) on the streets.

A similar project was voted by CGMB last year.
